Course Overview

​

The Basic FTO with Integrated Leadership Course is a comprehensive 5-day, 40-hour program designed to prepare Field Training Officers to train, evaluate, and mentor probationary officers using proven adult learning principles and leadership-focused methods.

​

This course combines the traditional 24-hour Basic FTO Course (TCOLE #3702) with an additional 16 hours of integrated leadership development, ensuring FTOs not only teach policy and procedure but also shape new officers’ decision-making, communication, and ethical standards. Through lectures, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises, participants will learn to provide effective feedback, foster a positive training culture, and lead by example.

  • Adult learning principles and coaching techniques to enhance trainee performance
