In-Person Training

Develop the skills to accurately assess truthfulness by identifying clusters of verbal and nonverbal cues that reveal deception.

Course Overview

The Detecting Deception Course teaches investigators how to evaluate truthfulness by observing clusters of behavioral indicators rather than relying on single “tells.” Based on research from the Wizard Project and studies in emotional and social intelligence, this course emphasizes establishing behavioral baselines, recognizing microexpressions and leakage, and asking strategic questions that increase cognitive load—forcing deceptive individuals to reveal inconsistencies.

Through lectures, video analysis, and guided practicums, participants will learn to accurately identify deception while maintaining rapport and supporting legally sound interviews.

Participants will learn:

How to establish behavioral baselines and identify deviations

Why deception is best detected by evaluating clusters of cues, not single gestures

How microexpressions and leakage expose concealed emotions

Strategic questioning techniques that reveal fabricated details
