Course Overview

The Proactive Leadership I Course blends nine interpersonal communication and behavioral models drawn from communication studies, business communication, leadership, and counseling psychology. Built on research from psychotherapy and neuroscience, this innovative, skills-based course teaches participants to identify and apply specific leadership behaviors that build trust, strengthen relationships, and improve decision-making.

Using the tell-show-do training model, participants will practice each technique through guided exercises, gaining mastery of a wide range of interpersonal leadership skills verified through quantitative research.

Participants will learn:

  • How nonverbal cues communicate respect or disrespect and impact trust

  • Managing emotions—yours and others—for effective leadership under pressure

  • Identifying and interpreting universal facial expressions and microexpressions

  • Using engaged listening and interpersonal observation to detect early problems

  • Responding with empathy while holding others accountable

  • Questioning techniques to improve decision-making and problem-solving
